The flagship summits at the end of 2026, concentrated on focal points in the European digital agenda for the last months of the year, including International AI Summit (14 October, in Dublin Ireland), AI in Science Summit (15 October in Dublin), Apply AI Summit (17 November, in Brussels and online), and the Digital Talent EU Days 2026 (15-16 October in Dublin).
International AI Summit (14 October, Dublin Ireland)
As part of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the second part of 2026, Ireland hosted the International AI Summit, as the official launch of European AI innovation Month. This flagship event, under the theme “harnessing AI to revolutionise Europe’s competitiveness”, has brought tens of the European and global leaders, Heads of Government, CEOs, investors, innovators and academics.

Digital Talent EU Days 2026: “building skills” for European digital future
During 15-16 October, the Digital Talent EU Days 2026 have brought together policymakers, industry representatives, educators and digital skills experts at Trinity Business School, at Trinity College Dublin, to discuss one of Europe’s most pressing challenges: developing, attracting and retaining the talent needed for a competitive and secure digital future.
Organised by LEADSx2030 and Connecting Women in Digital, in partnership with the European Commission and other stakeholders, the event coincided with the European AI Innovation Month; i.e. at a time when Europe is accelerating efforts to bring artificial intelligence “from the screen into the real economy and society”.
Skills and talent are at the heart of the digital and AI transformations; and as AI reshapes industries and professions, European states would have the workforce capable not only of developing advanced technologies, but also of integrating and applying them effectively. This includes strengthening capabilities in AI, cybersecurity and other strategic digital areas that are essential to European competitiveness, resilience and technological sovereignty.
Discussions at the “AI-talent days” were focusing on three interconnected priorities:
= Closing digital skills gaps;
= Expanding participation in the digital workforce, particularly among women and underrepresented groups; and
= Turning policy ambitions into practical action through stronger cooperation between businesses, education providers and public authorities.
The “digital talent event” has also explored the ways the training/education facilities managed digital upskilling, reskilling existing and emerging skills, as well as pathways to respond to changing labour market needs, while ensuring that women play a stronger role in designing, developing and leading Europe’s digital transformation.
Through workshops, debates and exchanges of good practices, the Digital Talent EU Days have provided an opportunity to connect initiatives, share lessons learned and identify practical approaches to building the “European digital talent pipeline”.
